I used to play on a Selmer Series ii Alto, but would never expect that a student model Trevor James saxophone to blow it out of the water. I initially bought a TJ Classic II for my student as I hear that they make decent student horns. I was skeptical at first, but as I started to test the horn myself, it began to dawn on me that this is a student model horn that feels like, if not better than the Selmer Series ii. I especially enjoyed the comfortable key work and its free blowing design. The best part is that this saxophone costs a fraction of what the Selmer costed. I’ve kept the Trevor James ever since and used it for all of my gigs. Oh boy, if a student model TJ can feel this good, I can only imagine what a RAW would feel like.
